Art project:
THE WICKED GAME

I am interested in considering how the fashion world and media has received criticism for the way it portrays human perfection and the negative effect it can have on people. My project The Wicked Game explores this theme.

 

The Wicked game consist of a series of self-portraits which I have distorted and manipulated digitally to question how much photos of models and celebrities are being altered before being published. Once again I challenge ideal beauty and question what we are doing to achieve a “perfect” look, image and body.

 

Whilst working on this project I have been inspired by photographers such as André Kertesz and his series Distortions which shows female nude bodies which are distorted using reflections and mirrors. Surrealist painter Salvador Dali and his paintings of distorted objects and bodies have also been a source of inspiration.
